P.S.

The little girl's flip-flopping has prompted me to do a little research on exactly how caffeine affects her. Thanks to the thousands of websites designed to make the average new mother even more ridiculously obsessive, I found the answer with minimal difficulty. Apparently, caffeine crosses the placenta quite readily, and the fetus metabolizes it just as slowly. That would explain the 6-7 hours of nonstop action. As for me? My pregnant body metabolizes it more slowly as well...That would explain why I'm still awake. And one more little jewel? Caffeine stimulates the secretion of stomach acids. Which explains tonight's worse-than-normal heartburn.

Good to know. Can't promise I won't still be partaking occasionally, but good to know.
