Bear with me
Intrinsic to pregnancy is, of course, the amazing changes a woman's body undergoes to make room for a baby. The way God can so perfectly make the human body both an incubator and a source of nutrition is utterly inconceivable, but it obviously works. I love browsing through all of my pregnancy books each week to see what changes are occuring that make the life within flourish even more. It is an incredible process. Until it's happening to your own body. Reading about the changes is all good and well, as they say, until it is happening to you.
I should mention that my first trimester has hardly been the hell that many women go through. So much so, that I am probably ungrateful for even bothering to mention my complaints. However, my initial trimester has not been a breeze. For starters, the hunger. My goodness. I can go from being stuffed to ready to kill someone for food in 30 seconds flat. Thank goodness it didn't take that long to realize the hunger would hit about every 2.5-3 hours, so that I could plan accordingly. Much to my mom's chagrin, I called the baby "the little monster" for the first month of its existence because it made me want to gobble up everything in sight (provided it was not Mexican, spicy, Italian, or food with any strong odor). And did I mention the boobs? I very strongly feel that God should put a limit on how many cup sizes a woman should have to grow during pregnancy! I can understand how an A cup might need to expand a bit in order to feed a hungry newborn. But how much more does a C cup need to grow? I've already had to upgrade bra sizes. It's going to get pretty expensive if the girls keep up with this growth spurt!!
So, there's my little whine-fest. I know. I'm a wimp. It's not that bad. Aside from the few downsides, I have to say that I've enjoyed this whole journey to date...
